It's come time that we bring the news that [Quake 3]Revolution is expected to pass away peacefully. Over the last few days Arcaon and I discussed Revolution, it's progress, what needed to be done, and generally the things that allowed us to work on it. We came to the conclusion that it was time we release our progress and call it "a day". As of right now, none of us intend to continue working on it. We've debated the idea of switching to a different engine, and even porting it to Quake Live(if it's possible to do so without a huge hassle), but ultimately that lead us back to the reasons as to why we're no longer going to work on it currently. It's rather disappointing, as it was finally coming together to be the mod I envisioned in January 2007, when Lucron and I started working on it. It can do almost everything, with a superhud that could have the potential to be more flexible than the CPMA superhud, the ability to create custom game modes[quickmodes], fixing id bugs, and removing unlagged's hit/miss issues. We'd like to thank all the clans, server providers, developers, and other mods that have contributed to this project. You can find most of them here:

By now you've noticed that we have a new site, well sort of. We changed to something that offered better functionality for us, without the need to spend weeks 'hacking' things in. Most of the users were moved over, and those users will have to login into the forum for the time being, as the main site login will not accept them. As for apoLLo, you'll likely have to re-register, sorry. The Mods: The Quake 3 mod is nearing it's next release, quite likely an official release. How long have you been waiting for that? I think you'll be happy to know that I finally rewrote the forceModel related code(cg_TeamModel/cg_EnemyModel) and fixed up the pm skin code a little too. It took longer than expected and I even cut some of the things, I wanted to do, out. With Arcaon working on Quake 3 daily it's kinda hard not to try and out do him.. I've been putting off Quake 4, however, I'm going to really try to sit down and make the instagib mode rail only and add in railjumping. You have my word that I'm not giving my word about working on Quake 4. Write Comment (0 comments) |

The loss and the change. We've recently lost our main domain: www.quake-revolution.com ..it was never truly in our control, but it has expired.. We do plan to grab it once it's available again, however. www.quake-revolution.net is ours and what we're using now. =)
The tournament is still looking for more teams!
Quake 3 Yet another new developer for the Quake 3 mod, Arcaon, whom has already contributed quite a bit for beta8. There is a lot of work being done on the entire mod, but that is all we're going to tell you until everything is ready.
Quake 4 Once again I'm the only developer left... I'm also lacking a flash drive fast enough to effectively make the project portable for me. 20mb/s just isn't fast enough(It's not really fast enough for q3, but it works), need something around 50.. =X Taking my laptop is not worth the hassle for the amount of time I'd actually have to spend on it.
New engines I've been looking at moving, or porting the Quake 3 mod to variants of the Quake 3 engine, such as the Challenge Quake 3 engine and depending on what Quake Live is like... I can assure everyone we will not be 'back-porting' to a Quake 3 engine pre-1.32. Write Comment (1 comments) |
